Is the reader really free?
Yes, and it stays that way. The web reader and the core desktop app cost nothing and need no account. The desktop app offers two optional one-off upgrades if you want more — there are no subscriptions.
Are my documents uploaded anywhere?
No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser or in the desktop app. Nothing is transmitted, which is also why it works with no connection at all.
Which Markdown features are supported?
Tables, task lists, GitHub-style alerts, footnotes, syntax-highlighted code blocks and emoji, alongside everything in standard Markdown.
How do I open a file?
Three ways: paste Markdown straight in, drag a file onto the window, or use the file browser. All three keep the file on your machine.
Does it follow my system light and dark setting?
Yes — it follows your OS appearance automatically, and you can override it in the app.
